Manual HD Craftsman stapler #68447.
Manual HD Craftsman stapler #68447.
I have a 68447 HD Craftsman stapler. It is not electric. It fires correctly the first time then will not cock and reload. Worked OK in the past. Feels as though handle which is to be squeezed is in neutral. Can make it work by tapping hard on area where staple exits with a small hammer. This is not satisfactory and will eventually damage my stapler. If you can't help me fix it; please recommend one that I should get in place of it that takes 1/2' wide and 1/2' deep CHISEL pointed staples. Thanks, Dennis, [email protected]

Mark T , January 10, 2013Thank you for your question. I am sorry you are having a problem with the stapler. If the staples are not feeding correctly, I recommend checking the staples first. This staple gun requires number 6 staples. If you are using a wide staple, they could be binding in the channel. If you are using the correct staple, look at the channel to see if it is bent. If the channel is bent, the staples will not feed forward. If you find it id bent try to spread the channel out to allow the staples to slide freely. If the above does not cure the problem could be a weak spring not pushing the staples forward. If this is the case, you can try to take the spring off the rod and stretch it out. If you decide to purchase a new staple gun here is a link to the one I have. As far as manual staple guns go this is the best one I have had. I used it to put in 9/16 inch staples and some times it would not set them all the way in. This is most likely because I was shooting into oak. On the ones that did not seat all the way in I tapped with a hammer. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance. Thank you for using Manage my life. |
